Maya Mehanna, Education Director and Classroom Teacher
Certified Teacher with Master Degree in Education
Maya has over ten years of experience teaching at the elementary and middle school level as well as being a therapist in one-on-one ABA programs. She has taught children with a variety of needs including autism, ADHD, emotional/behavioral disorders, LD, and ESOL students. Ms. Mehanna has worked with these students in her own inclusion classroom as well as in a one-on-one setting. She has developed individual, classroom, as well as county-wide curriculum. She has held leadership positions within the public school sector and in private therapy programs. Stefanie Smith, Executive Director
Stefanie has over 20 years of accounting experience as well as several years of experience in human resources and office administration. She is also a parent of 2 special needs children, one with autism and one with ADHD. As the leader of her home ABA program, Stefanie has been extensively involved in developing the program, creating the materials, and hiring and training staff. She has also written a book on dietary intervention and conducts seminars on the subject.
Donna Zittrouer, Permanent Classroom Substitute/Classroom Assistant
Donna Zittrouer has a Masters degree in Statistics and has several years of experience as a tutor for students elementary through high school. She lives in Johns Creek and is the parent of two children, one with learning differences.
Megan Weatherford, NMT, MT-BC
Megan joined Music Therapy Services of Greater Atlanta in the spring of 2004 as a full-time therapist and will be doing our weekly music theory/therapy classes. Megan graduated from Florida State University with a music therapy degree. She also holds a certification in Neurologic Music Therapy, and is a registered Music Together teacher. Megan plays and teaches piano, guitar, and voice.
Amy B. Sherman, MA CCC- SLP
Amy is a Speech-Language Pathologist with her own private practice, Atlanta Speech Therapy and Training. Her specialty is treating articulation, oral-motor, and language problems, including apraxia, and she has training in PROMPT. Amy provides consultative services to school staff and speech therapy services to students at Alexsander Academy on an availability basis.
