Parents

Alexsander Academy has many programs to support our parents and help make it possible for them to offer their children an education designed to meet the childs individual needs.

At Alexsander Academy we understand the huge financial commitment required of a family when the decision is made to send a child or children to private school. We offer several programs to help parents. For questions about any of these programs please see Stefanie Smith, Executive Director:

1) Alexsander Academy is approved by The Georgia Department of Education to participate in the SB 10 funding program. This funding allows parents of students in the public school system with IEPs to choose to have their children attend private schools and receive some funding based on the services in that IEP. All students under IEPs are eligible but there are some rules that must be followed in order to access the funding. See the Georgia Department of Education website for more information.

2) Alexsander Academy also participates in a new source of funding from the state of Georgia, HB 1133. This bill allows taxpayers in Georgia to redirect their tax dollars to help fund private education. A single person can donate up to $1,000, a couple can donate up to $2,500 and a corporation can donate up to 75% of their tax liability. By filing simple paperwork with the state of Georgia and making their donation to a Student Support Organization, the donor will receive a dollar for dollar tax credit when they file their taxes at the end of the year. Parents can ask family and friends or even businesses to make this donation and ask the donor to earmark their money for Alexsander Academy or even to their child. Donors who designate their donation to the school get not only the state tax credit they also get a federal tax deduction. Most parents though will most likely be asking people they know to designate their donation to their child. Parents can even have multiple years of tuition paid for their child with the help of HB 1133. Any money raised that goes into the schools general fund is split equally among all eligible students in the school. This bill is great way to offset or even pay for your childs tuition. Please go to www.georgiasso.com , the Student Support Organization we are working with at Alexsander Academy for information and forms.

3) At Alexsander Academy, we never expect our parents to do fundraising but we do offer an incentive if they do fundraising activities. Parents who bring fundraising dollars into the school will receive 1/3 of that money off of their students tuition. So as a parent of one of our students if you raise $1,000 for our school you will receive $333 off of your childs tuition. If required by IRS regulations parents will receive a 1099 for the tuition reduction.
